Our expert trainers have a great reputation as is evidenced by the level divers that come year after year to improve and further develop their skills. Our purpose built dive pool is a major asset to our Scuba Dive School, as it offers training in a warm and secure environment.

Discover Scuba

Mevagh Dive Centre’s purpose built dive pool is the perfect environment to discover firsthand the scuba diving experience. Our experienced professionals will have you under water, breathing air in no time at all in the safe and warms confines of a swimming pool.

Discover Scuba consists of a classroom lesson and introduction to the basics and then a pool session where you can get a taste of what diving is about. Discover Scuba can lead you directly to Open Water Scuba Diver if you choose to continue and do another 4 classes and pool sessions.

Discover Scuba is suitable for groups and individuals and takes 2 hours (the minimum age is 8 years of age).

The PADI Scuba Diver program is a pre-entry level certification that is perfect for holidaymakers or people who only plan to dive a couple times a year. As a subprogram of the PADI Open Water Diver program, the PADI Scuba Diver rating allows you to get certified quickly and easily by minimizing time constraints. With the PADI Scuba Diver Certification you can dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Dive master, Assistant Instructor, Instructor or higher professional on your next holiday or dive trip. This program is a wonderful opportunity to explore the underwater world with the comfort and safety of having an experienced guide with you at all times. With a PADI Scuba Diver Certification card, you will be able to obtain air fills, scuba equipment and other services for diving under supervision.

During the course of the program you will use the PADI Open Water Diver Manual and Video or multimedia CD-ROM. Credit earned in this program can be used towards the Open Water Diver Certification. The Open Water Diver course uses the same materials as the Scuba Diver course, so already you are on your way to continuing further dive adventures.

Anyone aged 15 or over qualifies for the PADI Scuba Diver program. We will ask you to complete some paperwork, which includes a Medical questionnaire, Liability Release, and a Safe Diving Statement.

Now is the time to dive into the PADI Open Water Diver course, the most popular dive program in the world! This is your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure with PADI, a dive company that sets the standards in the global diving community.

Throughout the course, you’ll learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You will also earn a PADI Open Water Diver Certification that is recognized worldwide. You earn this rating by completing five pool dives, knowledge development sessions, and by making four open water (ocean or lake) dives.

As a certified PADI Open Water Diver you have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional. If you already tried a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience or are PADI Scuba Diver certified, check with your instructor to see how credit from these courses may apply to the open water program. Your underwater adventure can begin as soon as today with the new PADI Open Water Diver Video and interactive CD-ROM! You can view these materials at home,at your own pace and then meet with an instructor for further assistance. Open water learning options also include group or private instruction. This course offers tremendous flexibility and lets you work out individual needs with your instructor.

Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a PADI Open Water Diver Certification.

  • Multilevel
  • Deep

In order to qualify for Advanced Diver status you must complete the Deep and Navigation Specialties. If you’re 15 or older, and a PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent, then you’re ready for the Advanced Diver program.

To become a PADI Adventure Diver you need your PADI Open Water certification (or equivalent) and the desire to experience thrilling adventures. This in-water performance based program includes a total of three dives from the list below:

  • Multilevel
  • Deep
  • Night
  • Search and Recovery

If you’re 15 or older, and a PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent, then you’re ready for the Adventure Diver program.

After successfully completing the program, you’ll receive the PADI Adventure Diver Certification. Now, take the next step! Complete two more adventure dives (must include deep and navigation) and become a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.

Want to be ready in an emergency? Then this program is for you! The PADI EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE program covers basic training for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and emergency care. In addition, it is a medically based program covering primary care, secondary care and treatments following national consensus guidelines.

The program is designed for divers and non-divers, and also meets the CPR and First aid prerequisite for earning your PADI Rescue Diver rating.

So if you’re seeking CPR / First aid training to meet a diving program requirement or for personal enhancement, this program is for you.

The PADI Rescue Diver program develops your knowledge and skills so you can effectively perform diver assists and rescues, manage diving accident situations and render first aid. The program is an important step in expanding your knowledge and experience as a diver. PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent) certification is also a prerequisite for all PADI leadership programs.

To get into the PADI Rescue Diver program, you’ll need to be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent) and must be at least 15 years old.

You’ll also need to have successfully completed the PADI EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE program or a sanctioned program in CPR within the past 24 months. The PADI Rescue Diver program covers:

  • Self-rescue and diver stress
  • Diving first aid
  • Emergency management and equipment considerations
  • Swimming and non-swimming assists
  • Panicked diver response
  • Underwater problems
  • Missing diver procedures
  • Surfacing the unconscious diver
  • In-water artificial respiration
  • Egress (exits)
  • First aid procedures for press

Reach for the top of your sport — the diver level unrivaled in the recreational ranks: PADI Master Scuba Diver. This certification denotes that you’ve reached the highest recreational diver level in the PADI System of diver education.

To put yourself on top and reach the PADI Master Scuba Diver level you need to be at least 15 years of age and have completed:

  • PADI Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization
  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, or have a qualifying certification from another training organization
  • PADI Rescue Diver, or have a qualifying certification from another training organization
  • 50 logged dives
  • Five PADI Specialty certifications
